CONTRIBUTIONS/ DONATIONS INSTEAD OF GIFTS

This year, instead of sending customers gifts, the GERWAN GmbH has decided to support the in Bonn situated FÖRDERGEMEINSCHAFT DEUTSCHE KINDERHERZZENTREN E.V. (society aiding heart centers for children) through donations.
"Despite and perhaps because of the vast calls for contributions and donations for well-known national and international relief organizatons, we cannot overlook local and regional projects", says Oliver Lück. "After intense research, we decided on supporting the Fördergemeinschaft Deutsche Kinderherzzentren e.V., since we know this organisation to be highly committed."
So it was that Lück, along with managers of four other reknowned IT companies in and around Bonn were able to present the managing director of the Relief Organization, Wolgang Heer, with a donation of 15.000 Euros. The money will be used for the purchase of a mobile echocardiogram for the Universitaetsklinik Bonn (Bonn?s university teaching hospital). This instrument assesses potential heart defects in infants, directly after birth, regardless of where they are.
"Considering the broad working area of the pediatric Cardio Surgeons, which extends beyond Bonn into Cologne, Gerolstein, Andernach and Lüdenscheid, a mobile diagnosis instrument is indespensable. The device not only makes it possible for the pediatric heart specialists to instantly prepare for medical treatment in emergencies, but they are also able to work with a familiar instrument even when they are in other clinics," explains Wolfgang Heer, managing director of "FÖRDERGEMEINSCHAFT DEUTSCHE KINDERHERZZENTREN E.V.".
Especially interesting was the demonstration of the special equipment in action, which followed the presentation, making the contribution even more worthwhile and rewarding.
"Precisely this live demonstration strengthened and reassured us of our decision; the money is herein a direct and highly useful investment. We're extremly pleased to be actively supporting this project", announces Oliver Lück after the meeting in the Bonn office.
BU: Dr. Ulrike Herberg demonstrated to the five IT-companies that donated a grand total of 15,000 EURO, how the echocardiograph works.

The FÖRDERGEMEINSCHAFT DEUTSCHE KINDERHERZZENTREN E. V. is located in Bonn and has supported the further development of diagnostic and treatment methods, as well as research of, congenital heart defects since 1989. Every 100th new-born, that is between 6 and 7 thousand children a year in Germany, are born with this most frequently occuring organ deformity. Left undiagnosed and untreated such abnormal organ development can be lethal. Though with effective treatment and with the best possible medical and technical equipment, over 95% of the affected receive the chance to grow up normally and healthy!
