The following glossary includes a total of 62 terms, deriving from the fields of internet (general), Domains, Hosting, Internet-Technologies, etc. should a term be missing from our list, please feel free to contact us.
Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) | Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) is a language used to format documents and is usually supplementary to HTML- and XML-codes. Certain sections of the website, which are divided into classes, are assigned certain formats. CSS lets you seperately edit the design and content of each page. |
CC-request | A CC-request is necessary when an internet address is to change from one provider to another. The procedure ("connectivity-coordination" (CC)) is possible only once the owner of the internet domain has authorized this. The CC-request form includes information regarding the domain name, the current and designated provider, and must be singned by the internet address' admin-c. The former provider also has to consent to the request before the transfer can be completed. |
CGI | The Common Gateway Interface (CGI) is technology used with web servers. It describes the point of interface, where data is exchanged; it is the intersection at which the retrieval of documents and software cross (software that i.e. assesses user entries). |
Content-Management-Systems | Content-Management-Systems (CMS) are programs for administering the contents of internet sites. A CMS allows users to edit the contents of a page without prior knowledge of programming languages and commands. CMS systems are usually based on databanks that save the contents of a webpage. |
cost per mille (CPM) | The cost per mille (CPM) describes the amount of money required for an ad (a banner for example) to reach one thousand people. In contrast to the thousand-contact price, it is assumed that more than one person sees a single ad. |
counter | A counter is a simple tool for statistics. It counts the number of visitors to a webpage and displays them graphically. |
