Glossary
The following glossary includes a total of 62 terms, deriving from the fields of internet (general), Domains, Hosting, Internet-Technologies, etc. should a term be missing from our list, please feel free to contact us.
Page Impressions | "Page Impressions" (PIs) are the amount (count) of content retrievals and call-ups of websites and projects. They are stored in log files and include (unlike ?hits?) all elements of that page, such as graphics. The updating or renewed loading of a page is usually not counted as a new "PI". |
page-views | A page-view is an unit of measure that expresses how often an internet page has been loaded. This term though is dated and is now referred to as page impressions. |
PHP | PHP - Hypertext Preprocessor ? is a common programming language interpreted by servers. The syntax is very similar to the programming code/language C. PHP is easy to learn, supports all common databases, and can access additional program libraries that can, for example, digitally publish and generate graphics and pictures. The current open-source software version is 5.2.6. |
POP | E-mails are most commonly received using the Post Office Protocol (POP), which allows the e-mail retrieval from the server to the users computer. POP is designed very simply and only responds to three commands: list e-mails, retrieve e-mails, and delete e-mails from the server. The e-mails are loaded from the server onto the user's local harddisk. The altering of data on the server is not possible. |
